Greater Manchester Community Energy
Greater Manchester Community Energy is a grass roots movement whereby residents install renewable energy such as hydro, biomass or solar power to generate power for community buildings and schools. Creative Concern has worked with schemes across Greater Manchester to highlight the benefits. One scheme aims to raise funds to install solar panels on three Salford schools and a community centre in Trafford. Any surplus generated from the scheme will be put into a community fund and used to support eco-friendly projects in the local area.
Supported by Greater Manchester Community Renewables (GMCR), the Greater Manchester Community Energy Pledge is a way of bringing the projects together and encouraging people to support them. We have carried out media relations for the projects in trade and regional media titles as well as creating content and managing their social accounts to raise awareness and funds for the scheme.
